Venue - Kirkland Community Use School
Date – Thursday 23rd October 4pm.
The candidates for the vacant Westminster seat of Glenrothes will be attending a hustings event at Kirkland Community Use School on Thursday 23rd of October at 4pm. The hustings organised by Fife Gingerbread as part of a campaign to highlight welfare reform issues, will be chaired by Lesley Riddoch (the broadcaster & supporter of Fife Gingerbread) and will be broadcast on Radio Scotland on Friday 24th October at 1.15 – 2 pm.
Rhona Cunningham, Manager of Fife Gingerbread said “Methil has a high proportion of lone parent families who face the same issues as the rest of the community, problems in terms of poverty, unemployment, and community safety, so it’s good that local people will have the opportunity question the candidates, they have the power to influence change.”
Lesley’s encouraging local people to attend:
“October means Glenrothes is the place to be politically in Scotland. We’re delighted to be able to record a community-backed hustings meeting, because we hope that grassroots contact means we will get plenty of people on the day. And everyone is welcome to come, whether you’re a member of a political party or none – I’ll make sure it’ll be a feisty debate!”
The hustings provide an opportunity for the Methil voters to quiz the candidates on issues of importance to the local community. If you’d like to put questions to the candidates, please email them through the website www.lesleyriddoch.com.
